Salaam. I’m Bareerah. I’m the girl who brings race into everything.
I was born in Karachi, Pakistan to a loud and proud Muslim family. My upbringing in Southern California didn’t stop me from unapologetically loving and embracing my religion, culture and language, but it did expose me to racism and discrimination from a young age. So I’ve made it my life’s mission to bring intersectional conversations into every space I’m in.
I am now four years into my professional career, and so far, so good. I graduated with a journalism B.A. and ethnic studies minor from the University of Oregon. I have clips in various publications including POPSUGAR, Fodor’s Travel, Prism Reports, Her Agenda and more. I cover everything and anything from an intersectional lens and center marginalized voices in all my work.
I currently reside in Seattle, WA with my wonderful husband and our two kitties, Gandalf the Grey and Princess Leia. I am open to any and all work opportunities and am excited for what the future will bring.
